CLAUDIA & ALE’S ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOOT AT ROQUE NUBLO: A LOVE STORY ABOVE GRAN CANARIA

One of the greatest compliments I can receive as a photographer is when couples invite me back to document another chapter of their story. Claudia & Ale asking me to photograph their one-year wedding anniversary felt incredibly special - a moment to celebrate not just their wedding day, but the journey they’ve shared since.

Roque Nublo is one of Gran Canaria’s most iconic and symbolic landscapes. Towering above the island, it feels timeless and grounding - shaped by wind, time and history. Photographing Claudia & Ale here felt incredibly meaningful. Anniversary shoots are about reflection, growth, and choosing each other again, and this dramatic setting mirrored that beautifully.

The light at Roque Nublo is cinematic and ever-changing, wrapping the landscape in a soft stillness that invites you to slow down. The session was captured using a mix of digital photography and 35mm film, shot on Kodak Portra 400, adding a timeless, nostalgic texture to their images. Film has a beautiful way of softening moments and making each frame feel intentional - a perfect match for an anniversary session rooted in emotion and presence.

There was no rush, no pressure - just space to walk, talk, and be fully present together. That freedom is something I always encourage during anniversary sessions. They aren’t about recreating a wedding day, but about honouring how love evolves.

Moments like these are exactly why I love shooting abroad. New landscapes bring new energy and deeper storytelling, connecting place and memory in such a powerful way. Being trusted by Claudia & Ale to capture their love again in this setting reminded me how lucky I am - and why destination weddings and international sessions are a key goal for me moving into 2026.
