ANNABELLE & BEN’S POST-WEDDING SHOOT IN DURHAM: COFFEE, COBBLED STREETS & A TOUCH OF MAGIC
Post-wedding shoots have a special kind of freedom to them. There’s no timeline pressure, no expectations - just space to slow down, reconnect, and create something meaningful. Annabelle & Ben’s post-wedding shoot in Durham felt exactly like that: relaxed, intimate, and beautifully honest.
We began the evening at Flat White, one of my absolute favourite coffee spots in Durham - a place that holds a lot of personal meaning for me from my university days. There’s something grounding about starting a shoot somewhere familiar, warm, and real. Coffee in hand, soft conversation flowing, it instantly set the tone for the evening: no performance, no posing - just being present together.
Annabelle and Ben told me early on that they didn’t love being posed, which I completely understood. Not every couple wants grand gestures or overly styled moments - and they don’t need them. My approach was simply to create the right environment: space to walk, to talk, to laugh, to forget about the camera entirely. From there, their connection did all the work. The more we wandered through Durham on that crisp October evening, the more natural everything became.
As we walked through the city, the autumn leaves underfoot and the soft evening light wrapped Durham in the most cinematic atmosphere. There’s something timeless about this city - the cobbled streets, the historic stone, the way the light falls just right at dusk. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and feel.
One of the most magical parts of the shoot was stepping inside Durham Cathedral, wandering through the cloisters. Instantly, it felt otherworldly - quiet, echoing, and undeniably Harry Potter-esque. There was a sense of calm and intimacy there, as if time had paused for a moment just for them. Photographing Annabelle & Ben in that space felt incredibly special - a blend of history, romance, and storytelling that Durham does so effortlessly well.
This post-wedding shoot wasn’t about perfection. It was about comfort, connection, and capturing love as it really looks - gentle, understated, and deeply genuine. Annabelle & Ben’s gallery is a reflection of that: warm moments, quiet smiles, and a love that doesn’t need to be directed to be seen.
A simple walk, great coffee, an autumn evening, and a little bit of magic - proof that sometimes the most meaningful images come from the moments in between.
